There are more than 700 Community Foundations nationwide.
There are 72 Community Foundations in the State of Indiana.

ECCF at a glance (1989 – 2012) …
The Elkhart County Community Foundation (ECCF) was established in 1989.
ECCF total assets as of FY ’11-’12 totaled $45 million
Thanks to our amazing donors, we hold more than 350 funds.
The ECCF has awarded more than $40 million since our inception.
Each year the funding available for grants is 5% of the endowment’s average value for 16 previous quarters.
In fiscal year 2011 we awarded $3.6 million in grants and scholarships
Our largest single donor was Guy “David” Gundlach, giving an estimated $140 million. (Gift will be reflected in assets at the end of our Fiscal Year.
We are governed by a 21 Member Board of Trustees.
We have awarded grants to more than 275 not-for-profits serving Elkhart County.
The ECCF Unrestricted Fund is called “The Fund for Elkhart County.”
We have partnered with the Lilly Endowment Community Scholars Program since its beginning in 1998.
We are a Nationally accredited community foundation through the Council on Foundations.
We grant in the areas of Arts & Culture, Community Development, Education, Health & Human Services, Youth Development, Religious, and Scholarships.
