Future Roadmap

The Community Foundation has a 24 year-long history in Elkhart County, but most recently was thrust into a new era of giving and granting as a result of a substantially large gift from the estate of Guy David Gundlach, a member of the Legacy Society, who passed away quite young and unexpectedly. It is important to point out however, that David is one of MANY valuable donors in our community who have a shared passion to helping others by giving of their time, talent and treasures to help make Elkhart County a better place to live, work and play. These are the individuals who Inspire Generosity and good will towards others.

On Wednesday, October 9, 2013 the Elkhart County Community Foundation, in the first of three community events, presented to a room of more than 325 community members (including donors, volunteers, and non profit organizational leaders) their future model for “Grant Awards” and their redefined “Guiding Values”. This new future for grant-making and values is a result of their findings over a year-long journey of community “Listening Tours” and research gathered from new “like sized” community foundations across the nation.

Below is information from the “Sharing the Vision” events and the materials shared at the Annual Luncheon on the Guiding Values, Model and our Matching Program.  If you are interested in learning more about how to apply for a grant in the new model there is information about upcoming NPO Boot Camps and the 2014-2015 Timeline below.
